George Francis Sage, 70, Front Royal, Va former well known Magna resident died Sept 2 at his home. Mr. Sage was a very prominent Catholic and contributed greatly to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Magna. He gave the candle sticks for the altar, the statues o the front lawn, many of the vestments, the chairs in the sanctuary, some of the marble work in the church and many other items for the divine services. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Indiana and on Thursday evening at 7 p.m, a Requiem High Mass for the repose of his soul was held at the local church. Mr. Sage was born June 9, 1896, Green Castle (sic) to Thomas S. and Nellie Gooddard (sic) Sage. He married Juanita Swarthout. Mr. Sage was an accountant and member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Front Royal. Interment was made in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Vincennes, Ind. Mr. Sage was a well-known and highly regarded former local resident and news of his passing is met with sorrow by hosts of friends.
