Mrs. Lois Reed Ronk of Indianapolis and formerly of Ladoga is in receipt of a telegram from the Red Cross saying that her husband, Technician Fifth Grade George T. Ronk has been liberated from a German prison camp. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ronk of Indianapolis parents of T-5 Ronk had a car a waeek ago from their son, written Feb 13 in which he wrote he was a prisoner in 2-A camp in Germany which is not far from the Baltic Sea. T-5 Ronk was captured Dec 17 in the battle of the Belgain Bulge. He was first a prisoner at Stalag 4-B for a month and was then taken to Camp 2-A. His parents formerly resided in Ladoga.

George T. Ronk, 80, of Bloomington, died at 8:05 p.m. Monday at his residence.
Born Feb. 6, 1922, in Ladoga, he was the son of Walter E. and Ruby C. (Peffley) Ronk.
He was employed by Herff-Jones Co., Inc. in Indianapolis, where he was vice president in charge of the fine papers division. He retired after 35 years of service.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was held as a prisoner of war by the Germans for six months. He was a member of the Stonebelt Chapter of Ex-POWs, and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lois E. (Reed) Ronk of Bloomington; one son, Ron Ronk and wife, Deanna, of Sullivan; and one granddaughter, Suellen Ronk.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services with military rites will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, with Elder Don Ellis officiating. Burial will be at Brick Chapel Cemetery in Putnam County. Friends may call 4-5 p.m. and 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
