Dr. Charles Rice, whose seizure was noted last week, never regained consciousness and passed away at three on Friday morning. The body was taken to New Market, where the funeral services at the home of his mother were conducted by Rev. Edrington, pastor of the Browns Valley Baptist Church, Sunday. Burial in Freedom Cemetery. Six veterinarians acted as pallbearers. Dr. Rice was born in Catlin, Ill July 15, 1870 and was the son of William and Sarah Davis Rice. His first wife was Anna James, who died March 1918. On July 9, 1923 he married Mrs. Cora E. Davis of Kansas City who survives him. He was a veterinarian of much ability, and in spite of his physical handicap, kept up with the latest developments of his profession. During the time that they have lived here, Dr. and Mrs. Rice have made many friends. He is survived by the widow; by his mother, Mrs. Sarah Rice, of New Market; five sisters: Mrs. Amelia Etter, Misses Myrtle, Evelyn and Stella Rice of New Market; Mrs. Warren Myers of Logansport; and by four brothers Nelson of Crawfordsville, William of New Market, Otis of Greencastle and Hubert of Logansport. Among those from Waveland attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. WW Canine; Mr. and Mrs. AB McClain, Mr and Mrs. Fred Rice, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Gilkey, John Sharp, Victor Canine, Mr. and Mrs. John Rice, Dr. BH Branson, Parke Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. WA Jackson, Mr. WD Rinehart, Mrs. CW Spencer and Miss Bertha Spencer. - kbz
