Robert M. Ramsay, one of our oldest and most respected citizens, died on last Saturday afternoon after a brief illness of Bright’s disease. He was born at Mt. Sterling, Ky, on Nov 4, 1804. He located near Portland Mills, Parke County in 1831. He moved to Carpentersville and in 1862 to Crawfordsville. His early life was one of business thrift and enterprise. He was esteemed as a good and honest man by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and two sons, John W. and Newton Ramsay. His funeral was preached by Rev. EB Thomson of Center Church on Monday afternoon. The remains were escorted at Oak Hill by the Masonic Fraternity. - kbz
