Charles W. Query, age 63, departed this life Wednesday June 5, 1957 at the Putnam County hospital following an illness of two years. He was born in Owen County, near Poland, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Query. He had made his home in Greencastle since 1943 moving here from Quincy. He was married to Sarah Lantrah and to this union was born two sons, Donald Lee and Cecil Ray. One evening in 1956 Mr. Query not being able to attend church due to his affliction realized he needed a savior and sent word to the Rev. Fowler to come to his home for prayer. While praying with a group consisting of his wife and daughter, Mildred Paris and Doris Hester, he was wonderfully saved and after that time his main conservation had been Jesus. Mr. Query leaves his wife Sarah, two sons, Donald Lee and Cecil Ray at home; a daughter, Maxine Allee of Putnamville; two step sons, Loyd Basham, stationed with the AF in New Mexico and Wayne Basham at home; 10 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Sutherlin, Cloverdale, Mrs. Blanch Harris, Indianapolis; three brothers, Cecil, Valparaiso; Claud, Greencastle, and Willie of Jasonville. A daughter, Mildred Paris preceded him in death three months ago. Also his father, mother and two small children preceded him in death. He leaves a host of relatives and friends. - kbz
