PRIEST, Lewis C. - CW - Putnam

Killed in Mississippi near Onkalona First Lieut. Lewis C. Priest on the 22d of February 1864, in a skirmish with Forrest’s calvery. Mr. Priest volunteered in the service of his country in August 1862, and as a member of Col. Wilders mounted Brigade, was engaged in a number of battles, always bemeaning himself as a brave, patriotic soldier. He was about twenty five years of age. He leaves numerous friends in this county to deplore their loss. – thanks so much to Teresa R for this one
