POWERS, Harry W. - Putnam

Harry W. Powers, 70 years old, RR 4, North Vernon died yesterday in the West 10th Street Veterans Administration Hospital.  A native of Putnam County, Mr. Powers had taught school for 32 years in Putnam, Montgomery and Jennings counties.  He was a member of the Christian Church at Whitesville and the Indiana State Teachers’ Association.  Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Dowd Funeral Home in North Vernon. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today.  Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Dulcena Ratcliff Powers; a son, Roger Powers of Salem; two daughters, Mrs. Sara Beth Pitcher and Mrs. Elladine Franklin both of Indianapolis; a sister, Mrs. Robert Farlow of Bainbridge and 7 grandchildren. – kbz
