Greencastle, June 5
John W. PORTER, 72, well known Clinton Twp farmer died at the county hospital Wed. night at 10 following an operation several days ago to relieve a cancerous condition. His condition had been critical for several days. He is survived by two sons, Floyd and Fred Porter, both of Putnam Co as well as a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives. His wife died two years ago. The body will remain at McCurry Funeral Home, Greencastle until Friday afternoon when funeral services will be held from the Seceder Church near Portland Mills at 2 o'clock.

The death of John W. Porter aged farmer of Clinton township, occurred at 10 o’clock last evening in the Putnam County Hospital where he has been critically ill for the past two weeks.  He underwent a major operation Wednesday.  Mr. Porter was 72 years of age and is survived by two sons, Fred Porter and Floyd Porter of Portland Mills.  Mr. Porter’s wife died about a year ago.  Funeral service will be in the church in Portland Mills Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock with burial in the cemetery there.   ---transcribed by kbz
