Mrs. Indiana Akers Pinkerton died at her home in this city Monday at 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Pinkerton was born in Putnam County, Indiana July 5, 1826. She was married to Robert Pinkerton Nov 10, 1842. They came to Kansas in 1865 and settled on a farm west of Paola. Here they lived but a short time, finally locating on a farm two miles southwest of Osawatomie where the husband and father died in 1872. Eleven children were born to them, four sons and seven daughters. Eight of them survive to grieve for her. Nearly 60 years ago she became a member of the Baptist Church and continued to be a devoted member of the church until called from her works to reward. She was buried in the cemetery at Paola Wednesday afternoon, after a service conducted by Elder JD Iler at the home. The following children survive: Miss Marguerite Pinkerton, Mrs. Anna D. Nelson, Wm. Pinkerton; Mrs. Elizabeth Leard, Mrs. William Conklin, Mr. R. Hill Pinkerton, Mrs. Senath Malone and Mr. Attie Pinkerton. All are residents of this city except Mrs. Malone who lives in Iola, Kansas. The end of the pioneer mother's labors has come and rest and peace are hers!
