PICKETT, Leland A - Putnam

The modest home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pickett on West Hendrix Street is shrouded with gloom today as the result of the second death which has occurred within the last five days.  Leland A, the 17-year-old son died at 2:30 o’clock this morning of diphtheria after illness of a few weeks.  His death follows closely that of Kenneth P, the six-year-old brother, who passed away last Wednesday night of the same disease. There were 7 children in the family and all but one had diphtheria in more or less violent form. The parents, three brothers and two sisters survive the deceased. The funeral services were held at the residence this afternoon in private and the body was taken to the Boone Cemetery near Reelsville for burial. – kbz
