Roachdale, Sept. 12 1938- Oliver B. Pickel, 83 year old native of Putnam County, died at 2:40 o'clock Monday morning at the home of a son, Herbert Pickel, at North Salem. He had been ill three weeks. Mr. Pickel was born July 23, 1855, in Putnam County, the son of Jacob and Mary Bundrant Pickel, and married Ida Bridges, Jan. 6, 1886. His wife died Dec. 6, 1930. The deceased was a member of the Fincastle Universalist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Herbert, at whose home he died, and Ray of Indianapolis; two daughters, Mrs. Howard Coffman of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Harold Harshbarger of near Ladoga, and one grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Chastain mortuary in charge of Rev. Stanley McGaughey. Burial will be made in the Roachdale cemetery. The undertaker said friends would be permitted to view the body 2- 9 p. m. Tuesday and 8 a. m. to 2 p. m. Wednesday.

Oliver B. Pickel, 83, died at the home of his son, Herbert Pickel, September 12, at North Salem. He was born near Fincastle, July 23, 1855, the youngest of eleven children of whom none survive, the son of Jacob and Mary Bundiant Pickel. He married on January 6, 1886 to Ida Bridges, she preceded him December 6, 1930. Other survivors besides the son, another son Ray, of Indianapolis; two daughters; Mrs. Howard (Blanche) Coffman of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Harold (Lucille) Harshbarger of near Ladoga, and one grandchild Junior Pickel. Funeral services were held at Chastain funeral home Wednesday.
