PICKEL, Mahala Obenchain - Putnam

Crawfordsville, May 9 – Mrs. Mahala Anne Pickel, 83, died at her home four miles east of Crawfordsville at 2:15 o’clock on Tuesday afternoon after an illness of one week with pneumonia.  Mrs. Pickel was born in Putnam County on Jan 29, 1845, the daughter of Ryneholt and Mary Anna Obenchain. On August 17, 1870 she became the wife of Joseph Pickel.  Mrs. Pickel was a member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ida Brown of New Ross, Mrs. Rachael Terry of Whitesville and Mrs. Flossie Elliott of Crawfordsville and three sons, Wilmer and Andy Pickel of near Crawfordsville and Otis Pickel of this city. Her husband and two sons preceded her in death. The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the home. – Mr. and Mrs. Len Ratcliff and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Obenchain of Greencastle attended the funeral at the home Thursday afternoon.  Mrs. Pickel was an aunt of Mr. Ratcliff and Mr. Obenchain. – kbz
