Charles Buford Phillips

Charles Buford Phillips, 69, 515 Ritter Ave., Greencastle, passed away Thursday morning at the family residence. Born July 11, 1913 at Fillmore, he was the son of Henry C.. and Louenna (Congleton) Phillips.

Mr. Phillips was a 1932 graduate of Fillmore High School. On Oct. 14, 1960, he married Betty May Sawyer, and she survives.

He was previously a employed at American Ball Brothers, Greencastle, and retired in 1974 from the International Harvester plant at Indianapolis. Mr. Phillips was a member of Elks Lodge 1077 and Moose Lodge 1592, Greencastle. He also was a member of the Fillmore Christian Church.

Survivors, in addition to the wife, include two sons, Eddie Overshiner, Crawfordsville, and Jack Overshiner, Mt. Meridian; two sisters, Lora Pickett, Greencastle and Stella Hunter, Coatesville; three brothers, Carl Phillips, Greencastle, Roger Phillips, Plainfield, and Virgil Phillips, Amo, and three grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday from the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with interment in Forest Hill Cemetery Friends may call 3-9 p.m. at the funeral home. The Elks Lodge members will hold a memorial walk-through ceremony at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Friday.
