Bainbridge, Jan 14 – James Petty of Bainbridge said to be the last civil war veteran in Putnam County died yesterday at the home of a daughter in Richmond at the age of 96. A Kentuckian, he served in an Indiana Infantry regiment. Shortly after the close of the war, Petty moved to Putnam County where he lived more than 75 years. He is survived by a son, Glenn Petty, Danville; five daughters, Mrs. Homer Steinbrink, Rockford, Ill; Mrs. Leslie Allee, Mrs. William Allee, Mrs. Lauther Brown and Mrs. Wilbur Miler, all of Richmond; a brother, Robert Petty, Frankfort; and a sister. Services will be held at the home here Wednesday at 2 p.m.  - kbz
