Ladoga - Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Fern Pence, 54, of Rt. 2, Ladoga, who died Sunday afternoon of injuries from an automobile accident Saturday will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Roachdale at the Perkins Funeral Home. Mrs. Pence was born Oct 16, 1912, at Pittsboro the daughter of Levi McCloud and Anna Merriott McCloud. She was married to Leonard G. Pence July 9, 1933 at Ladoga. The deceased was a member of the Methodisdt Church. Surviving in addition to the husband are 3 sons, Robert Eugene Pence of Richmond, Lloyd Gilbert Pence of Indianapolis and Leonard Pence, Jr. of Bridgeport, a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn June Wilson of Crawfordsville; three brothers, Lawrence McCloud of Phoenix, Warren McCloud of near Roachdale; and Richard McCloud of Portland, Ind; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Jones of Indianpaolis and Miss Doris McCloud of Roachdale and two grandchildren. Friends may call at the mortuary after 3 p.m. Tuesday. Burial in Roachdale Cemetery.- kbz

Ladoga- A rural Ladoga woman died at 12:15 pm Sunday in Marion Co General Hospital, from injuries received in a head-on collision of two autos Saturday afternoon on the Marion-Hendricks Co line road. Her husband was one of two others injured. Mrs. Elsie Fern Pence, 54, of Rt 2 Ladoga, suffered a severe concussion in the crash at 1:45pm Saturday which happened on the road near 196th Street. Mrs. Pence was riding north in a car being driven by her husband Leonard C. Pence, 58, when their car collided with another. The other car was being driven by 50 year old Mary Bell Blye of Danville, Indiana. According to state police the Blye auto, which was headed south on the two-lane country road, apparently hit some water in the road, went out of control, swerved and struck the Pence auto head-on. Pence and Mrs. Blye were also hurt in the crash. He was taken to Indianapolis General hospital with an injury to his left leg and Mrs. Blye to Hendricks Co Hospital with a concussion and lacerations near her left eye. The hospital, Monday noon, reported, Mr. Pence's condition as "satisfactory". State Police said both cars were extensively damaged in the mishap. There were no arrests.
