Funeral services for William Howard Oakley, 80, who died at Culver Hospital Sunday evening, were held in Crawfordsville Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with burial in Roachdale cemetery. Mr. Oakley had been in poor health a number of years and suffered a paralytic stroke about a week ago. He was born near here June 17, 1859, and later moved here. His wife, the former Susie Carter, preceded him in death. Mr. Oakley operated a horse-drawn tank wagon for the Standard Oil Company here many years and later moved to Crawfordsville where he held a position with the same company. Miss Mary Carter, a sister-in-law is a local resident. Other survivors include two sons; Harry of St. Paul, Minn., and Charles of Crawfordsville and three grandchildren --- thanks so much to Marilyn Walker for donating her wonderful Roachdale Times obituary file for use on this site
