OAKLEY, Ellen Ader - Putnam

Mrs. Ellen Oakley, 85, died at the home of her son Oate Oakley near New Maysville Friday of last week after an extended illness with a complication of diseases. Funeral services were held at the residence Sunday afternoon with Rev. J. R. Sides, pastor of the North Salem Methodist church. Burial was made in New Maysville cemetery. Mrs. Oakley was born near here April 13, 1854, a daughter of Adam and Margaret Chatham Ader. She married November 5, 1876, to James Oakley who died in 1915. She was a member of the New Maysville Methodist church. Survivors include two sons; Oate of near New Maysville and Lawrence Oakley of near North Salem, a daughter Mrs. Oscar Higgins of near New Maysville; one grandchild and three great grandchildren    --- thanks so much to Marilyn Walker for donating her wonderful Roachdale Times obituary file for use on this site
