A special from Terre Haute under date of August 17 gives the following particulars of the killing of Mrs. NJ O’Rorke. The body of the dead woman was lying beside the Vandalia tracks, west of the Wabash River Bridge has been identified as Mrs. NJ O’Rorke of Greencastle. The body was neither mangled nor cut, save a gash on the left side of the head above the ear and a bad bruise on the side. Quite a bundle of letters and papers were found in the pocket of the skirt which were addressed to Mrs. NJ O’Rorke, Greencastle and were signed Your Loving Son, WH O’Rorke. These letters were mailed from different places: the last one under date of June 22 being posted at Indianapolis. On slips of paper were addresses of several persons throughout the country. One bore the name of Mrs. G Thomson, 3201 Rhodes Avenue, Chicago, Ill and another Miss Hazel Howard, 174th East Washington Street, third floor, Indianapolis. There were also two Vandalia baggage-checks but there was no railway tickets nor money in her possession. It is the supposition that she accidentally fell from the train but the police are inclined to believe that she might have been a victim of foul play. The woman was neatly dressed and in appearance was 45 years old, with gray eyes, black hair and in weight 125 pounds. Other addresses found in her possession were Will Tearcey, Jr, Boulder, Colo; William A. Ketcham, 21 East Washington Street; Frank Blocke, Room 19 Indiana Avenue and James M. Tooley. The cities where these persons live were not given. The body remains in charge of the authorities and efforts are being made to communicate with her friends. - kbz
