George Perry Nugent, 29, of Greencastle, formerly of Lafayette and son of Rev. and Mrs. EW Nugent of Fowler, died unexpectedly of a heart attack while playing golf at Greencastle at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday. Formerly employed by the Indiana Associated Telephone Corporation in Lafayette as a lineman and repairman, he was transferred to Greencastle as district manager in 1947. He married Juliette Zapp of Lafayette, June 5, 1947. He was a native of Cupar, Saskatchewan, Canada. Mr. Nugent was a veteran of WWII and served 38 months in the Marine Corps, most of the time in the Pacific theater. He belonged to Congress Street Methodist Church, Lafayette, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kiwanis Club and Elks. Survivors besides his widow and parents are two brothers and a sister, Charles Thomas Nugent of Cincinnati, WIlliam Nugent of Indianapolis and Margaret Nugent of Fowler, a Purdue student. The body will be sent to Lafayette. His father, formerly pastor of Congress Street Church is now pastor of the Methodist Church in Fowler. - kz
