Thomas Farmer has
received from Coquille City, Oregon, the news of the death of his sister, Mrs.
J. H. Nosier, which occurred at that place on October 18. Mrs. Nosier was,
before her marriage, Matilda E. Farmer, the daughter of J. H. Farmer and was
the second daughter in a family of thirteen children. She was born in this city
at No. 211 East Washington street Nov. 26, 1832 and was well known to all the
older residents of the county who will he sorely grieved to learn of her
demise. Her death was the result of an accident while returning with her
husband and daughter in-law from Norway, Ore., where they had been visiting the
younger Mrs. Nosler’s parents. At a
narrow place in the road they met another conveyance and in attempting to pass,
Mr. Nosler’s team because unmanageable and backed the carriage over a bluff 35’
high. Mrs. Nosler’s death was instantaneous. The other of the party were
severely injured but will live. Mr. Nosler was also a native of this county and
where he has many friends who will sincerely mourn with him in his bereavement. - kbz
