John Henry Nichols only son of Harvey and Jemmima Clark Nichols was born Oct 10, 1863 on the farm near Fillmore, Ind where he has spent his entire life.  When he was only 8 years old, his father who was a Civil War veteran passed away; therefore his education was limited.  On March 31st, 1886 he was married to Nancy Catherine Arnold. Five children came to bless their home: Ira U near Fillmore; Della O, wife of Elisha Zeiner near Greencastle; Ada E, widow of Fred A. Robinson near Fillmore; Harvey C of Monroe Twp and James B who preceded him in death April 19, 1920 age 21 years.  At the age of 30 he made the good confession and became a member of the Fillmore Christian Church serving as deacon for 30 years and was treasurer of the building fund during the building of the present church building.  He spent his entire life of 89 years 4 months 8 days at his home following the profession of farming that he loved so much.  He also was a breeder of Polled-Shorthorn cattle.  He left this earthly home early in the morning of Feb 18, 1953 leaving his loving and faithful wife, these 4 children, one son-in-law, two daus-in-law, 19 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.   -– kbz
