NICHOLS, Homer - WWI

Source: Greencastle Herald, 10 Jan 1919 p 1
Everett Nichols of Stilesville has received word that his nephew, Homer L Nichols, who recently was reported dead in France is alive. The young man has written that he is in a base hospital in France, suffering from a wounded hip, after serving two months on the front lines. He says that he is receiving the best of treatment at the hospital and that he hopes to be able soon to make the trip back to America and home. Nichols enlisted April 5, 1917 and after receiving training at Camp Shelby, Miss went to France.3

Note: Glad to report that Homer Lee Nichols (born 28 May 1895 in Putnam County) must have come home as he is buried (29 March 1955 death date in Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois) in the Gordon Cemetery in Danville.  Here is more information here - https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/35221419/homer-lee-nichols
