NEWTON, Albert Earl

Darlington – Albert Earl Newton, 83, retired Montgomery County farmer formerly of the Darlington community died Saturday in St. John Hospital, New York City.  He had been ill two months and in the hospital 1- days.  Mr. Newton was stricken with a heart attack at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Lydia Gough of Jackson Heights, NY shortly after his arrival there after spending the winter in California.  Born in Putnam County near Carpentersville he had lived on a farm near Darlington since 1935.  He was married in 1900 to Elizabeth Shoemaker who died in 1947.  He was a member of the Christian Church. Surviving with Mrs. Gough are five other daughters: Mrs. Ruth Higman of Rockville; Mrs. Mary Carpenter of North Salem; Mrs. Virginia Grandors of LaPorte; Mrs. Mabel Prewitt of Taylorsville, Ky and Mrs. Lucille Wagoner of Ripon, Wis and two sons, Eugene of Linden and Edwin of Independence. The body is being sent to Roachdale. – kbz
