Mary Ruth daughter of Lorenzo T. and Ida M. Newell was born at Carpentersville, Ind on Jan 11, 1896 and departed from this life on Oct 7, 1915 at the age of 19 years 8 months and 26 days.  All that loving hands could do was done to save this young life but God, the loving Father saw fit through His infinite mercy to gather this flower bud which was blooming into a beautiful flower and plant it in His flower garden in heaven, where it could not be trampled down by a cold and cruel world but would be permitted to grow in a garden not tended with hands.  Ruth being an invalid nearly all her life at times suffered untold agony but never murmured but said God’s will be done. She was possessed by a loving gentle disposition and to know her was to love her. She had a kind word for everyone and although suffering from her pains she was always ready to help mama with her work as much as she could. When about 10 years old she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Carpentersville and lived a devoted Christian life. Her daily work has proven this fact. Her deeds were deeds of kindness and doing good toward others.  One of her favorite remarks was that she wanted to be friendly with everyone and if she had an enemy it was not her fault. Ruth was a girl that everyone who knew her spoke well. She graduated with honors from the graded schools but owing to her afflictions she only received two years of high school training. Her parents, two brother, George W. and Glen and one sister, Naomi survive.  Dear Ruth we miss you and deeply mourn our loss for we feel that when your gentle voice was stilled the blood in our veins was chilled and the community has lost one of the noblest and sweetest creatures God could give us. Whose upright lift has been a blessing to us all.  We feel that in you God has permitted one of his angels to be in our midst for nearly 20 years to teach us the right way of living for Him.  Now He takes you away. Have we learned the lesson that God through you has endeavored to teach? We must thank God for your life in our midst and yet be thankful to Him for taking you from us for our loss is your gain and God wants you in Heaven. Dear Ruth we thank God for taking you from a life of sorrow and pain and giving you a home in Heaven where there will be no sorrow and giving you a home in Heaven where there will be no sorrow nor pain. We know you were a child of God and God will take His own unto Himself.  Dear parents, dear brothers, dear sisters, relatives and friends, weep not for dear Ruth for she has been given a better place in heaven. Let us live so we will meet her in Heaven when it comes our time to go into the presence of our Creator.  Deceased was a member in good standing of Roachdale Rebekah Lodge No 509 IOOF of Roachdale, Ind. The lodge mourns the loss of a sister, whose presence in the lodge room cast a god influence over the entire order. Funeral services Saturday afternoon Oct 9 at 2 conducted by Rev. FS Hickman of Greencastle. Services were held at the Carpentersville ME Church.  Interment was in the Bainbridge cemetery. The pall bearers were Mrs. Marguerite Hughes; Mrs. Blanche Cox; Misses Agnes Hultz, Nida Hall, Gladys Watson and Lucile Woodrum.  Flower girls were Mrs. Blanche Riggles and Misses Clara Hines and Lettie Bridges. - kz
