Mrs. Grace I. Nelson, 77, Greencastle, passed away Thursday evening at Autumn Care Nursing Home, Brownsburg.

Born March 3, 1912 in Parke County, she was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Ora (Lawter) Fowler. She was married to David Morris (Bill) Nelson and he preceded her in death on March 4, 1977.

Before her retirement, she worked for many years as a housekeeper and had worked in the Housekeeping Department at DePauw University. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Greencastle.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Linda Nelson, Route 1, Russellville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Robert Perkins, Route 2, Greencastle and Evelyn and Larry Shaughnessy, Brownsburg; three sisters, Carrie Carmichael, Greencastle, Flossie Wells, Plainfield, and Betty Copeland, Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters, two great-grandsons, and one grandson, Kevin Perkins in 1984.

Private family funeral services will be held Sunday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Dr. Don Childers officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 2-8 p. m. Saturday at the funeral home.
