Again the Reaper of Death has come among us and taken from our midst one who laid down the duties of this world which she had always so faithfully performed and gladly accepted the call to come up into that brighter and better home where many of her loved ones had gone before. Emma Neese, daughter of Riley and Mary (Bickel -kz) Ikamire was born at the family home near Putnamville, Ind Feb 7, 1863. She spent her girlhood days there and united with the Presbyterian Church at Putnamville at the age of 12. On Sept 2, 1885 she was united in marriage to Everett Neese. To this union was born 7 daughters and one son. The son and two daughters and her husband have preceded her to the haven of rest. Mrs. Neese had been failing in health for some time since her husband’s death, Jan 14, 1923 she had never been able to regain her strength yet in the last weeks only those who were nearest realized that the end was so near and on the morning of June 1,1923 with her daughters at her bedside she told them she was no better. She told them to look after each other and especially to care for the two youngest girls and at 8:15 with one last look at her dear ones, her weary spirit took its flight. She was a faithful wife, a good neighbor, a great mother. Through all the trials of her life and during her last sickness she never complained. Her thought were always for others. Some of the traits of her character were industry, patience, kindness, self-sacrifice, cheerfulness, forgiveness for the faults of others and an unquestioning faith in God. She leaves to mourn her departure her five daughters, one brother, four sisters, besides other relatives and dear friends. Funeral services were held in the ME Church at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. AM McHaffie, the pastor. Burial in the Amo Cemetery. – kbz
