NEARPASS, Enola Harris - Putnam

Graveside memorial services for Enola Glynn Harris Nearpass, 74, former Indianapolis resident will be conducted by Broad Ripple Chapter of Eastern Star at 3 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Cremation was at Glendale, California where she died last Wednesday.  Born in Putnam County near Greencastle, Mrs. Nearpass lived in Indianapolis 25 years, moving to California in 1949.  For several years here she was a court stenographer.  Here Mrs. Nearpass was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. At Glendale, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church.  She was also a member of Broad Ripple Eastern Star.  Survivors are the husband, George E. Nearpass III, known as the “Whistling Brakeman” of the Pennsylvania Railroad; four stepchildren: Mrs. Charles W. Hess; George E. Nearpass IV and Mrs. Leo Vachet, Indianapolis and Mrs. Jack Imig, Milwaukee, Wis two brothers, a sister, 12 stepgrandchildren and three step great grandchildren. - kbz
