Oscar L. McKamey, 77, Greencastle, a former Fillmore and Plainfield resident, passed away Tuesday morning at Putnam County Hospital. He was born Feb. 17,1905, the son of Elmer and Edith (Reeves) McKamey.
Mr. McKamey was a graduate of Fillmore High School and the State Normal College in Terre Haute. He married the former Mary Bryan in 1930, and she survives.
He was a rural mail carrier out of the Fillmore office until his retirement in 1962. Mr. McKamey was a member of the Fillmore Methodist Church, past master and 50-year member of the Applegate Lodge No. 155 F & AM and a past patron of Fillmore OES No. 186, and member of Greencastle BPOE No. 1077.
Along with his wife, survivors include a son, Capt. J. B. McKamey, daughter-in-law, Nancy McKamey, three grand children Janice, Jacquelyn and John Jr., all of Pensacola Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Phillips, Greencastle, and Mrs. Hazel Davis, Winchester; a niece and five nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Effie Kennedy.
Services will be held at 10 a. m. Friday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home in Greencastle. Rev. Paul Taylor will officiate. Interment will be in the Fillmore Cemetery. The Elks Lodge will have a walkthrough services at 7 p. m. Thursday.
Friends may call at the funeral home 2-9 p. m. Thursday.
