Mr. McGaughey was born Dec. 2, 1926 in Greencastle the son of Ernest and Blanche McGaughey. He was married twice. The second wife, the former Sylvia Crooks, survives.
Mr. McGaughey was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. During World War II he served in Japan. His service in the Korean War was at Fort Benning, Ga.
He was a member of the Browns Valley Baptist Church, Judson Masonic Lodge, Modern Woodmen Lodge and the Square Club of the Masonic Fraternity. He also was a member of the Airplane Owners and Pilots Assn., VFW, and was president of the Crawfordsville Pilots Assn.
Mr. McGaughey had been with the R. R. Donnelley & Sons Co. for 13 years as a linotype operator.
Survivors include the widow; a son, Larry Leo; a daughter, Marcia Lynn; the mother, Mrs. Blanche Graham; a twin brother, Leon McGaughey of Flora, and a grandfather, George Hale of Fincastle.
The body was taken to the Bright Funeral Home where services will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday. Burial will be at the Hebron Cemetery near Russellville where graveside rites will be conducted by the Judson Masonic Lodge. Rev. Raymond Skelton of Logansport will be the officiating minister. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 7 p. m. Monday.
