Eliza Jane Webster was born near Bellmore, Park Co, Ind., Feb 20, 1848.

She passed on to the higher life May 10, 1902, at 9:05 a. m. Aged 54 years, 2 months and 20 days. She was married to Wm. F. McGaughey at her parents' home near Fincastle, Ind., Dec. 18, 1873.

He preceded her to the beyond Feb. 28, 1874.

She Leaves a sister, Mrs. M. Tilla Marshall, of Ulysses, Kan.; three brothers, Wm. W. Webster, Fincastle Ind., John A. Webster, of Wyandotte, Mich. and J. B. Webster of Hanover, Pa.

These with an unnumbered host of friends and relatives, realize that a beloved sister, a mother, a companion and a blessed comforter has passed away from them to eternal bliss leaving a vacant place amongst them which no one but her own sweet self coul fill.

She was a mother and sister to every one, and especially was her sympathy to outcasts, orphaned, bereaved or homeless humanity. During her last days she expressed a desire to remain with us, but said "There is no death, no grave me and whether I live or die I am the Lords. " "Our God is a god of the living and no of the dead. " "Oh death where is thy sting, oh grave where is thy victory. "
She would also say "God is with me and gives me peace. 'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus. "
She rejoiced in God's love, truth and holiness, and gave praises to Him as long as utterance lasted. She would repeat over and over "Praise the Lord" "Bless his holy name" and "Peace, peace, peace, peace. "
Her Bible was her constant companion and guide. The greatest desire of her soul was to get others to see the beauty of the Book and live its truths.

She was a member of the German Baptist or Brethren church for 25 years, and lived a devoted, practical christian life.

The remains were taken to Blakesburg cemetery and placed at the foot of her father's and mother's graves as she had requested. Funeral services were conducted there by Elders Wm. Harshbarger, Howard Keim and Rev. Lindsey, from I Cor, Fifth Chap. 6th verse ???
She desired that six cousins be her pall bearers. They were Mrs. Nancy Thomas, Mrs. Richard Bales, Mrs. Edna Obenchain, Mrs. Sophia Go?lin, Mrs. Effie Shannon and Mrs. Olivia Gardner. To her there was no death and Eliza is now awake and conscious of the fact of eternal life that knows no death.

Her devoted christian life, her good deeds and noble acts all contribute to her closeness with God and she is nearer the throne of grace today than she would have been without these virtues. Though her mortal remains are gone from us, her blessed presence surrounds us still, beckoning us onward to Love, Truth, Light, Life and God.
