McELROY, Stephen - Putnam

The death of Stephen C. McElroy, age 81 years who lived in Parke County just over the Putnam County line, occurred at his home on Tuesday morning, after a long illness of general debility. Mr. McElroy was a Civil War veteran and was one of the best known and beloved residents of the vicinity in which he lived. Funeral services will be held at the home on Friday morning at 10 o’clock. Mrs. Myrtle Cahill, formerly of this city now residing in the state of Washington and Mrs. Lawrence Athey of this city are daughters of Mr. McElroy. Another daughter, Ida resided with her father as did one son, Henry. Two other sons, GM McElroy of Otterbein and William McElroy of Logansport also survive. - kbz
