Once again the Angel of death has entered our midst and taken from us a loved father and husband.  Verley E. McCullough son of Jefferson and Elizabeth McCullough was born May 25, 1886 in Owen County, Indiana and passed from the life at his home near Belle Union Jan 15, 1920 after an illness of five months at age 47 years 7 months 20 days.  On Jan 3, 1909 he was united in marriage to Floy M. Buis.  To this union were born 6 children: Charles, Lucille, Daniel, Helen, Mary Delos and Garnet May.  Besides these he leaves to mourn his loss, a mother, 5 brothers, one sister, a dau-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.  Verley was ever a kind and devoted father and husband, a good neighbor and a true friend and was always happiest when his relatives and friends were gathered around him in his home.  While not a member of any church, he often expressed his belief in the Primitive Baptist faith and enjoyed attending their services.  He always met the problems and disappointment of life with the greatest of patience and during his last illness, never complained and today he is sleeping that sweet sleep over which pain and sorrow have no power (poem)
