James McClary died at his residence in this county after a long confinement to his bed. He was the son of John and Margaret McClary and born in Fleming County, Kentucky on Oct 20, 1804. He was married to Sallie Ann Morrison Oct 1, 1829 and moved to this county in 1833 and to the farm of his late residence in 1835. He was the father of seven children, four sons and three daughters. His wife died on the 26th day of Sept 1863 and all his children except two passed away before him. The two still living are Martha E. Reeves who has lived with the deceased since 1871 and Joseph McClary in our city. The deceased has experienced all the inconveniences and hardship of pioneer life and has done his part faithfully in changing the forest into farms and the wilderness into homes for future generations. He was a sincere Christian man and a faithful, earnest and true member of the Presbyterian Church from his early manhood. - kbz
