The death of Timothy Murphy, age 98 years, one of Greencastle’s oldest and beloved citizens occurred on Sunday afternoon at 2:15 o’clock at his home 113 Elizabeth Street following an extended illness. General debility was the cause of the death of Mr. Murphy. The old gentleman had been in ill health since the death of his wife five years ago. During the past year he had been confined to his bed. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Mr. Murphy leaves six children. They are: Miss Clara Murphy; Miss Alice Murphy and Tom Murphy, who live at home; John Murphy of Crawfordsville; Mrs., Pat Callahan of Terre Haute and Sister Mary Leontine of St. Mary’s-of-the-Woods, Terre Haute. Mr. Murphy was born in County Kerry, Ireland. He came to Greencastle in 1856 and has resided in this town ever since. - kbz
