Greenwood, Ind – Services for James W. Murdock, Sr, 78, Greenwood, formerly of Beech Grove will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Little and Sons Funeral Home, Beech Grove, where friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m Tuesday and 10 a.m. to services Wednesday. He died Saturday in a Greenwood nursing home.  He had been employed in group sales at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Indiana 14 years, retiring in 1967.  Born at Memphis, Tenn, he lived in the Indianapolis are 39 years.  A 1929 graduate of DePauw University, he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and DePauw Varsity Club.  He was captain and co-founder of DePauw’s Swimming and Diving team in 1927 and in 1929 was the Indiana State Intercollegiate diving champion.  He was a member of Beech Grove Methodist Church and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.  He was the widower of Dorothy Murdoch.  Survivors include three sons: Stephen, Duncan and James W. Murdoch, Jr.
