MORPHEW, James E. - Putnam

Morphew, James E., age 78, who had spent his entire life in Putnam Co., died at his home in Roachdale suddenly Thursday afternoon from a cerebral hemorrhage. He had not been ill previously.  He was born in Putnam Co., 25 October 1865, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Lane Morphew in Hendricks Co., Indiana. Mr. Morphew was married 24 July 1890 to Eleanor Alice Morphew in Hendricks Co.  The widow survives together with two daughters and four sons. The daughters are Mrs. Harry Hedge living near Roachdale and Mrs. Erwin McDonald of North Salem. The sons are Homer, Leonard, and Claud all of Roachdale and Herbert of Carterburg.  Mr. Morphew also leaves a brother, Joseph Morphew of Pittsboro, and one half sister Mrs. Minnie Wheeler of Indianapolis. There are 30 Grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Chastain Funeral home Saturday afternoon, with burial in the Roachdale Cemetery. - msw
