Franklin Morphew, age 93, died Thursday morning following a fall that fractured his hip last week. Mr. Morphew had been a semi-invalid for several years and had been cared for by his daughter, Mrs. Emma Morphew. He was the last member of the Morphew family that operated the mill known as Morphew's MIll on Eel River. He was born near Bainbridge, Jan 15, 1841 and came to this community when he was 4. He was married to Mary Catharine McCloud and 11 children were born, 3 of whom are living, Mrs. Emma Morphew, Mrs. Barney Russell and Clarence Morphew of Danville. Funeral services were conducted by Ray Britain at the Barnard Baptist Church where the deceased was a member. Thanks Tash for the obit.

Franklin Morphew, age 93 died Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Morphew, with diseases incident to old age. Ten days prior to his death, he suffered a broken hip bone, which was considered a contributing cause of his death. Funeral services were conducted by Ray Britton at the Barnard Baptist Church Saturday afternoon and burial in neighboring cemetery. Mr. Morphew was born in Ohio the son of Benjamin Morphew but came tot he community where he spent practically his whole life when a small boy. Mary Ktherine McCLoud became his wife and they were the parents of 11 childern, 3 of whom survive him. They are Mrs. Barnet Russell of Indianapolis; Orval Morphew of Danville and Mrs. Emily Morphew with whom he had made his home for a number of years. He was the last member of his family and at the time of his death held the distinction of being the oldest resident of Eel River Township. Had he lived until Jan 8, 1936, he would have been 94 years old. He had been a member of the Baptist Church at Barnard since early in life and attended regularly until a few years ago.
