MORELAND, Thomas J. - Putnam

Funeral services for Thomas J. Moreland, 87, of near Barnard, who died Sunday evening, were held at the Chastain funeral home here Tuesday afternoon. Burial was made in the Barnard cemetery. Mr. Moreland was well known in this section, having spent his entire life in this community. He was a plasterer by trade and followed his profession to within a few days of his death, which was caused by the infirmities of old age. Mr. Moreland was born near here November 7, 1854, the son of James and Frances Sheckles Moreland. He was married in March 1887, to Mary Utterback, who died in July 1923. Surviving are one son Frank Moreland, at whose home he died, a daughter-in-law and two grandsons; Warren and Franklin Leslie Moreland Jr. both of near here.   --- thanks so much to Marilyn Walker for sharing her Roachdale Times obituary collection - greatly appreciated.
