In loving remembrance of Muzetta Moore, who died July 11, 1892, aged 17 years 8 months.
There is a Reaper, whose name is Death
And with his sickle keen
He reaps the bearded grain at a breath,
Ad the flowers that grow between.
Alas@ How sadly did we realize the truth of these beautiful words of the poet when the Reaper came and called our dear young friend to cross and dark river and enter into the joys of the Lord.
'Tis only a short time since she, a bright, cheerful young lady mingled in society with the many friends by whom she will never be forgotten but that fatal lung disease made her its prey and it was the dear Savior's holy will to call her from this world of sorrow and suffering into that bright world on high where He had prepared a place for all who love Him.
All through her sickness she was kindly cared for by fond parents, loving brothers and sisters, and faithful friends, but when on the evening of the 11th she grew worse, it was found that she must soon pass from among the living. A few hours previous to her death she sang in a sweet, clear voice, that beautiful, sacred hymn, "Jesus, lover of my soul, let me to they bosom fly," which so plainly revealed to her loved ones that Jesus had spoken peace to her soul. Ah, certainly, if in almost the hour of death she could sing in such a manner. It was a perfect evidence that the Savior had softly whispered: "It is I: be not afraid."
The burial took place at the Baptist Cemetery near Bethel, Little Walnut, on Wednesday July 13, after which on Thursday, July 21, a funeral sermon was delivered at Bethel ME Church by Rev. Pack.
I, as a playmate and schoolmate of the dear departed in our childhood days, would say to the parents, brothers and sisters that your loss is great indeed, but we hope her gain is greater. We extend our sincere
sympathy of to the entire family.
"Why should we mourn departing friend,
Or shake at death's alarms?
'Tis but the voice that Jesus sends
To call them to his arms." .... CHB -- transcribed by kbz
