MOORE, Anne Hauser Agee - Putnam

Anna Moore born near Gosport. in Owen County. January 5, 1878 and died in Greencastle, Indiana, June 16, 1946, aged 68 years, 5 months, and 11 days. She was the daughter of James and Pauline Hauser. Of a family of two daughters and three sons of  this household, William of Spencer and Oren of Indianapolis are living. In 1901 she became the wife of John Agee and came to live on the farm which was her home until illness made it necessary for her to go to the home of her daughter for care. She was the mother of two daughters. Ruby, (Mrs. Harold Sears, of Greencastle) and Garnet (Mrs. Parker Hancock of Spencer.) There were also two stepdaughters, Jewel and Pearl Agee, who shared her advice and counsel. In 1915 the husband and father died, and in 1917 she was married to Elmer Moore who survives her. Other immediate survivors are one step-daughter, Jewel Agee Heilscher of Tucson, Arizona, and three grandsons, Gordon Evans and Bobby and John William Hancock. She united with Little Mount Baptist Church when she was 15 years old. After this church was disbanded she moved her membership to Salem Methodist Church (1916). She was also a member of the Ladies Aid of Salem community. An excellent housekeeper and a good manager, she was respected for her practical judgment and progressive methods. Her household was known for its hospitality and cheerfulness. She spent many hours doing helpful things for neighbors in need that will always be remembered by those who knew her best. She was loyal to her family and friends, covering faults with a mantle of kindness and forgiveness and understanding. We do not shame to grieve for her; Her place cannot be filled. We would have kept her with us here, If only God had willed! Her willing hands that knew so well, To lighten burdens on our way Lie folded still above her breast; And our hearts break today! We would not call her back to pain, That was so hard to bear! We’ll trust to God to meet again, Our loved one —Over There. Sunset and evening star' And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar. When I put out to sea. Bui such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound or foam. When that which drew from out the boundless deep, Turns again home.
