Ora E. Meek passed away Friday night at his home 401 S Jackson St. Death resulted from a heart attack suffered earlier in the evening. He had not been in good health for sometime but death was unexpected. He was born in Jefferson township, January 25. 1883, the son of John H. and Alice Lewis Meek.  His early life was spent in Putnam county. While here he was employed by the T. H. I and E. Traction Company and the A and C Stone Quarry. In 1921 he and his family moved to Kentland and spent the next twenty-five years in that city where he was employed by the Kentland Stone Co. Three years ago he and his wife returned to Greencastle to make their home.  While living here he has been employed at the Indiana State farm and by the Sigma Nu fraternity in this city. He was married March 7, 1909 to Mayre Farmer, daughter of Ed Farmer. Surviving are the wife, four children, Katheyrn Hasson of Casa Grande, Arizona; Dorothy Myers and John Edward Meek of LaPorte, Ind., Staff Sergeant Eugene Meek, stationed at Chanute Field, Illinois and 15 grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters Mrs. Elsie Hunter and Mrs. Opal Scobee of tins county and Miss Margaret Meek of Fort Lauderdale. Florida; a brother. Wilfred of Newcastle and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Kentland. Ind. and was a charter member of the Dads of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Definite funeral arrangements will depend on word from the daughter in Arizona but will probably be held at two o’clock Monday afternoon at the Rector Funeral Home.
