Mrs. Sarah Alice Brown Meacham born March 13, 1852 at Spencer, Owen County daughter of Elizabeth Alverson and Frederick T. Brown and married to Mark L. Meacham, Dec 5, 1875 at Rockville died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stella Lewis in Roachdale at 1:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon after an illness of three years. Mrs. Meacham was a member of the old Simpson Chapel of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Greencastle, later a member of the former College Avenue ME Church and for many years had been a member of the Presbyterian Church of Roachdale. She attended Indiana Asbury University in Greencastle and later enrolled in the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. She taught music in the Tipton schools 25 years and 30 years in Roachdale. Mrs. Meacham is survived by the daughter, Mrs. Lewis, Roachdale, one granddaughter, Mrs. LC Sparks of Indianapolis; two brothers, Frederick T. Brown, Fillmore and Edward Brown of Houston, Texas. Funeral services will be held from the Presbyterian Church in Roachdale Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock conducted by the Rev. Harold Quigley. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery at Greencastle. Friends may be with Mrs. Meacham at the Chastain Funeral Home in Roachdale after 4 o’clock Friday afternoon and the casket will be open at the church one hour before the hour of the funeral Saturday.
