MASTEN, Jesse Gilbert - Putnam

Jesse Gilbert Masten, passed away early Monday morning at the Putnam County hospital.  Mr. Masten was born March 31, 1877 in Hendricks County, the son of Hezekiah and Elizabeth Ann Jackson Masten.  He was married to Jennie Gorham in 1897, she preceded him in death in 1942. Later he was married to Aleta Rhoten in 1944 she preceded him in death in 1954.  Mr. Masten was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, a farmer by trace and spent most all his life in Monroe Township where he was well known.  In later years he engaged in carpenter work.  Survivors are two sons, Walter, Greencastle and Cyril, Bainbridge; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; one brother, Wilbert, Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Elmer, John, Frank and Matthew; one sister, Mrs. William Elrod.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 1030 from the Hopkins-Walton Funeral Home in Bainbridge. Interment will be Fillmore Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in Bainbridge after 7 o’clock Monday evening.
