Rev. E. Mason died at Plainfield on the 4th inst. Over a year ago a murderous assault was made upon Mr. Mason at Carpentersville by young Harris who attacked him with a knife and inflicted a severe wound in the face, breaking off the blade. The wound gave him a great deal of pain and he submitted to a surgical operation a few weeks ago in which the blade was extracted but the shock was so great that he died Friday. Harris was running on the LNA&C Railroad as a brakeman but is now at his home in Carpentersville sick.
