Parks M. Martin, age 67, assistant general tax agent for the NY Central Railroad lines, west, died at his home, 2418 East 10th Street at 6 a.m. today following an illness of three months. Mr. Martin for a number of years served on the state board of tax commissioners. He was a prominent Democratic political leader.  He was born in Putnam County and later moved to Owen County where he served a term as county clerk.  From 1896-1900 he served as chairman of the Democratic State committee, support William Jennings Bryan in his candidacy for the presidency. Mr. Martin moved to Indianapolis and during the terms of Winfield T. Durbain and J. Frank Hanley as Governor, he served on the state board of tax commissioners. At the expiration of the term of Gov. Hanley, Mr. Martin became connected with the tax department of the NY Central RR.  Mr. Martin is survived by a son, Frank Martin of Gosport, a daughter, Mrs. WC Stoker of Martinsville.  He was a York Rite and Scottish Rite Mason.  Mr. Martin suffered a stroke of paralysis last March. For a time he seemed to improve but recently his condition again became critical. Funeral arrangements have not been completed but his son said interment probably will take place in Cloverdale. - kbz
