Mrs. William Marshall died at her residence, 403 East Hanna Street, Greencastle this morning at 1:30 o’clock. She had been in fair health for one of her age up to Wednesday last when at 8 o’clock in the evening she was taken suddenly ill and was in a critical condition up to the time of death which came as sudden as her sickness. She died of organic disease of the heart. She was 83 years old on the 2nd day of August last. Mrs. Marshall’s maiden name was Lucy Dimmitt, and she was born in Clark County Ohio. She was married to her now bereaved husband Feb 17, 1846. There were born to this union 8 children, six of them now living, namely: JE Marshall of Montmorenci; MM Marshall of Greencastle; Mrs. Florence McGintie, Seattle, Wash; Mrs. Ella J. Westfall, Oklahoma City, Okla; Mrs. CW Sawyer, Chicago and Mrs. Belle Carver, Mishawaka. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall came to this state in 1861 and settled in Tippecanoe County. They went to Greencastle 8 years ago and bought property where the home now is. They were an excellent couple of old people and had many friends. They had lived together as husband and wife 63 years. The deceased was a member of Montmorenci ME Church. She joined church in her girlhood and was a faithful member all her life and a hard worker as long as she was able to work. The funeral at Greencastle will be at the family home at 10:30 o’clock Monday morning. The body will be brought here on the Monon at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon and taken overland to Montmorenci where the funeral will be held at 4 o’clock. All the children have been notified and are expected except the daughter in Seattle. The interment will be at the Montmorenci cemetery, 8 miles west of Lafayette. – kbz
