Funeral services for Joseph Morton Lydick, 30, who died at the home of his mother in Indianapolis Sunday morning, were held at the New Maysville Baptist church Tuesday afternoon. Burial was made in the New Maysville cemetery. Mr. Lydick had been ill for several years. He was born March 27, 1912, near New Maysville, the son of Ott and Mabel Stewart Lydick. Besides the mother and father other survivors are a sister Mrs. Mary McCreary of Indianapolis, a half brother Lee Edward Lydick of Greencastle and a step mother, also of Greencastle.   --- thanks so much to Marilyn Walker for sharing her Roachdale Times obituary collection - greatly appreciated!

Joseph Morton Lydick, 30, son of Ott Lydick, superintendent of the Putnam County Poor Farm, passed away at the home of his mother, Mrs. Mabel Stewart Lydick, 3301 Lynnhurst Drive, Indianapolis at 5 o’clock Sunday morning. He had been in ill health for 18 years. The deceased was born near New Maysville on March 27, 1912. In addition to his parents he is survived by a stepmother; one sister, Mrs. Mary McCreary, Indianapolis and a half brother, Lee Edward Lydick, Greencastle. Last rites will be held from the New Maysville Baptist Church at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. Interment will be in the New Maysville cemetery. Friends may call at Mrs. Lydick’s home in Indianapolis until noon Tuesday. – kbz
