ROACHDALE – William Eugene “Hugh” Long, resident of rural Roachdale, died Wednesday at Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis. Mr. Long, 65, had been in declining health for the last few years. The deceased was self-employed as a carpenter. Before his arrival in Roachdale, he was a resident of Indianapolis. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Born on March 22, 1904, in Granger County, Tenn., he was the son of Jake and Hannah Bare Long. His marriage to Cynthia Reed was solemnized on Dec. 24, 1959, in Greencastle. The widow survives. Other survivors include three daughters and four sons, all of Indianapolis; two brothers, George of Roachdale and Charles of Indianapolis, and two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Roberts and Mrs. Stella Cartheuser, both of Indianapolis. Services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday in the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Britton officiating. Burial will be in New Maysville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.   -– jlr
