"On last Tuesday morning, March 5, Mr. Albert Layman died at the home of George Layman, south of Putnamville, aged 92 [sic] years. Deceased was a brother of Dr. Layman, deceased, of Putnamville, and was one of the oldest and best known residents of South Putnam. " [GS-P, 9 March 1901, p6]

"Several of our people [from Manhattan, IN] attended the funeral of Mr. Layman at Putnamville, Thursday [March 7]. " [GS-P, 16 March 1901, p 1]
