RUSSELLVILLE -- George Ralph Lawter, 70, of Russellville died Tuesday evening. He had taught in the North Putnam County school district for 42 years.
Mr. Lawter was born Oct. 22, 1909, a son of Surveyor and Ethel Potter Lawter.
Mr. Lawter was a member of Morton Masonic Lodge, Morton Eastern Star, Russellville American Legion, National Retired Teachers Association and Union Chapel Church at Morton.
Surving are his wife, Maxine; a son, Bill at home; a sister, Mrs. Frieda Nicholson of near Morton; and several cousins.
The funeral will be at 2 p. m. Friday in the McGaughey & Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Lester Niles will officiate. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p. m. Thursday.
